Bossypants by Tina Fey: A Review

If you like intelligently writtern randomness surrounding the life of a professional woman that is somehow skillfully organized but dotted with points of unnecessary crap just for a joke, this book is for you. This book is reading bliss for any stressed out working woman  or man who wonders what goes on in the successful woman's head.

Some say that Bossypants isn't a memoir (see definition at the end of this post). I beg to differ. It's actually a cleverly written introspective memoir that tells you enough about many of the main experiences and thoughts that T-Fey believes have honed her into who she is today. (I think she's a big enough celebrity to get her own special name. Don't you? T-Fey Seems Appropriate) The fact that it's funny is just a bonus. You'll find a lot of "lessons" that will introduce you to a new way of thinking about the showbiz mom. Take what you think may be useful and leave the rest. Every part of every book is not likely to be for you. Some stuff was more interesting and relatable than others but that, too, is expected.

This book appears to be a pure memoir. Am I confusing you by calling it random and pure at the same time? Well, I happen to think that the components of life are very random and a memoir is about your life so... I am inclined to believe everything she says in her "random" book is true even though most memoirs only tell you what the people would want you to know (especially if they're still alive). It has to be true since it's so random. Right? No? Hahaha. Let's move on from my flawed philosophy if I haven't already lost you.

The audio book is more amusing that the traditional book. The reason - face it, you're not as funny as Tina Fey and they are her jokes so she gives them best. Your own voice in your head while reading just won't do when compared to T-Fey's expressive reading... and an audio book is a great way to pass time when doing data entry at your desk from 9-5. 

Are you very conservative? If so, you will be offended by some of the language and homosexuality-embracing words. I don't agree with everything she says but I love it anyway. Can you tell that I officially have a girl crush on Tina Fey... or the person she claims to be in her book anyway?

Also, don't judge me for how long I took to read this book since I mentioned it weeks ago. I'm a busy girl. My own random note - I am still amused that I can sometimes pass for a 23 year old.
